Affiliate Disclosure

VetsExplained is reader-supported. Some links on this site are affiliate links, which means that if you click one and buy something, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.
How affiliate links work
When we recommend a product, we often link to a retailer such as Amazon or Chewy. If you make a purchase through that link, the retailer pays us a percentage of the sale. The price you pay is the same whether you use our link or not.
VetsExplained is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. We may also take part in similar programs run by Chewy and other pet retailers.
How this affects our reviews
It does not. We buy the products we test at retail with our own money. Our testers and veterinary reviewers do not know, and are not told, which products carry higher commissions. A product that fails our testing is not recommended, regardless of any affiliate relationship, and we say so in the review.
Brands cannot pay to be included in a roundup, to change a rating, or to see an article before it is published. Where a product was supplied free for testing, the article says so.
Why we use affiliate links
Commissions help pay for the products we buy, the veterinarians who review our articles, and the time it takes to test things properly. They let us keep the site free to read without plastering it in advertising.
